My past relationship with money wasn't pretty, but I chose to change it.

I felt like there was never enough money,

I wasn't supported by money,

It never seemed to grow past a certain point in my accounts,

There was always a limit to what I could hold onto and have,

I was never worthy of earning the big bucks like the others,

I was restricted in what I could experience in my life because of money,

I was never going to be one of those rich people.

You see, I didn't grow up in a wealthy family, we weren't poor so I would say we were an average income earning household, maybe less?

My parents are extremely hard working and for majority of my childhood they both worked two jobs to support the four children they had had by the age of 27.

Having parents who had to work so hard, who struggled at times, who had times where they had to make our clothes because they couldn't afford to buy them, who had to go without themselves for years because of having us all so young, it created many beliefs I had around money that kept me stuck for a lifetime.

Not their fault of course, they were and still are the most incredible parents (now grandparents), loving, kind, caring, generous, hard working and who sacrificed so we could go to good schools and get a good education, we never wore clothes that were holey or too small (too big yes because we would always "grow into them" mum would say haha), we always lived in clean and tidy houses, there was always food on the table and so we didn't go without.

The meanings I attached to experiences and memories are my own responsibility and I chose to change them, just like you can.

Regardless of your past experiences, memories, life events, financial decisions, none of it defines the life you get to choose to live from here on.
