Welcome to the money mindset hub podcast. I'm your host Carla Townsend, and money mindset and success coach on a mission to normalize feminine wealth through empowering the minds of fierce females in business, you're in the right place if you are a female who wants to become a vibrational match to attract more wealth, freedom and abundance, because the world needs more kind hearted women like you with deep pockets. So let's get started. Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the money mindset have podcast today I have my beautiful friend Trisha, who is a mindset coach and hypnotherapist that I've had the pleasure of meeting Well, several months ago now, we're actually in a mastermind together. But we connected prior to that. And now I feel like I've gained another business bestie Trisha is over in Arizona in the US. First of all, I think it's just incredible that we can even connect, like considering we are in two completely different sides of the world, and, and help each other and support each other in this. So I really wanted to bring you to the stage because hypnotherapy is something that I think everyone needs to know about. But first off, let's just talk about you. So I'll let you do a bit more of your intro. And I guess why you chose to become a hypnotherapist and then start your own business. Like what was your journey like?
1:24
Well, first of all, thank you so much for having me. And thank you just so much for all of your support. I mean, anyone who hasn't worked with Karla, oh my gosh, her messages just light up my day, every time that she sends them. But for my journey, it's been a long one. Actually, I used to be in the journalism field. So I used to be a sports journalist and in the sports world, you know, because I gained a lot of inspiration from sports. It's a beautiful metaphor for life. But what I realized is that getting deeper and deeper into the industry, it didn't align with who I was and what I believed in. And I came across, you know, just some situations where I was like, No, this is no longer where I want to be. And that's where I kind of hit my rock bottom, my rock bottom was actually rocky years. It's not just like one moment, it was like, from 2015, or 16, you know, all the way up to 2018, maybe in 2018 was a turning point because I finally decided to quit my job as a sports journalist. And I moved back home, and really dove into personal development before I'd always had an interest in it, you know, sort of positive psychology or just listening or reading inspirational quotes. But it wasn't until it was like a necessity, where I was like, Okay, from all of these experiences I have to heal, because I was just not in a good place mentally or physically. Like I was sleeping for 16 hours a day. And so I really needed to find something that worked. And I had gone to therapy in the past, which, you know, was a great support system for me. But I just couldn't figure out why therapy why journaling. Why saying affirmations didn't actually move the needle for me. And after I was kind of diving into the personal development world, and diving into podcasts and courses and books, I stumbled upon hypnotherapy. And that's where I learned about the power of the subconscious mind. And at first, when the podcast came on about hypnosis, I was like, Oh my gosh, I need to like switch this. This is the weirdest thing that I've ever heard. But then they started talking about it. And I was like, Whoa, all of my problems can be fixed or addressed in the subconscious. And once I begin to shift those beliefs in the subconscious, I know that change is going to happen. So what I did is I just listened to hypnotherapy recordings for maybe a couple months, and all of a sudden my life became better. And then I decided to okay, I actually want to be a coach. And I also want to be a hypnotherapist too. So then I got my certifications, you know, just as you know, and maybe people who are listening to who are business owners, you know that there are a lot of mindset blocks to that come up when you actually put yourself out there when you start your own business when you start doing the thing. And I realized that wow, okay, so hypnotherapy has helped so many different aspects of my life. I wonder if I could apply this to my business. And as soon as I started doing that, it was like the things just started to become easier and easier to put myself out there to attract new clients and to help so many other clients. And the really cool thing that I had the pleasure of was I was actually chosen after I got my hypnotherapy certification to To be a part of, basically the school has their own company associated with it. And they wanted me to be on their team of hypnotherapists. Right. As soon as I graduated, I was getting, you know, 20 clients a week. So I was getting so much experience. But also, I mean, the people on the other end of the of the line, they had no idea that I just started. So I was getting like, really high end clients, right. And so it was just, it was such an incredible experience to gain so much experience so quickly, and to kind of access and see what is what are the inner workings of the people who are also at the top? And what I realized is that, okay, the top entrepreneurs are still struggling with the same things that I'm struggling with, or the same things that people are just beginning to struggle with. So it was, it was really interesting. And so funny that you say that, because it's literally the same. Self Sabotage is the same limiting limiting beliefs, it's the same, everything that comes up every block is something that you have, regardless of whether you're just starting out or whether you know, like for you, you've coached people at the top of the game, it's always the same thing, it might just show up slightly differently. But it's like that old saying goes, you know, new level new devil, there's always something but it's just being a more aware of it, and being able to catch it rather than letting those sabotaging behaviors and thoughts and beliefs, then stop you in your tracks or,
6:34
you know, I mean, we'll get into some of the blocks that I know have obviously come up for you for AI for our clients, everybody, we all experienced the similar things, you know, so no one's alone. You're not alone in thinking that you're the only one that's ever felt like that. It's always the same thing. Can you explain to us a little bit more into like the subconscious mind and why it's important to do that sort of deep work? And you sort of touched on it there. But for someone who's never really heard of this term before, like, what is the subconscious mind? And how is tapping into that? Why is tapping into that so important.
7:10
So you address a really important piece in that if if you continue to experience self sabotage, or if things just don't seem to be working out for you. And you're putting so much willpower into it, but it's still not working, it's likely that there's something in the subconscious mind that's preventing you from moving forward. So self sabotage is like the first indicator that you know, okay, there's probably something deeper than this. And so the subconscious mind, actually, our mind in general is divided up basically into two parts, our conscious mind, which makes up 10% of our mind, when you when you think about the mind, basically, people only think about the conscious mind. So they think that that's 100% of the mind. That's why there are these motivational quotes, like, just do it. But really, you know, anyone who has made a New Year's resolution, and has the perfect plan, and is so motivated, so inspired, and then it still doesn't happen, knows that willpower alone doesn't get you to your goals. So then what is the missing piece? It's the 90% of your mind, which makes up the subconscious. So the subconscious is really made up of your beliefs, your stories that you tell about yourself. So anything that follows the words I am, I am lazy, I am amazing. I am stupid, I am not cut out for this. I am a hypnotherapist, you know, so many people have so many different stories. I'm a mom, I am a whatever. And some of those stories can be empowering, but a lot of them are actually disempowering if we're unaware of them. And the subconscious sometimes can be synonymous with the unconscious, meaning that we're not even aware of what's going on underneath the surface. But you know, some other things that are housed in the subconscious would be like our emotional responses. So if you're doing something and then all of a sudden you just have like this, you just snap into like an emotional response, getting super angry at something. If someone cuts you off in traffic, and you're like, Whoa, where did that come from? Our memories basically our subconscious is like, like a library of all of our memories. And then it also has some autonomic bodily responses. So things like digestion or breathing. That's all stored in the subconscious as well, and most importantly our habits so That's why if you want to, you know, actually stick to your goals, it's really important to access and to shape the subconscious mind so that it's actually working with you versus working against you, which is then when when self sabotage happens, basically, self sabotage is when there's a misalignment from your conscious desires, and your subconscious beliefs. So anytime that there's this disconnect, it's like the subconscious because it makes up the vast majority majority of your mind. It's kind of like the the driver of the car. Yes, you can steer the car with your conscious mind and be like, nope, let's get back on track. But it's kind of like on autopilot where it just steers you in the direction that it's always gone. So that's a little bit about the subconscious mind and why it's so important to actually address a lot of the things that are going on underneath the surface.
11:01
Yeah, I love that you touched on habits, because regardless of whether they are, they are positive habits or negative habits, they all fall in the same place, they are all sitting in your subconscious. And a lot of the time, you won't even realize that you're actually doing that. And that it may actually be keeping you from your goals, something as well, you said like in success, you know, so many people want to be successful, whatever that version of success is for them, but they feel stuck. And they feel like you said consciously this is what I want. But subconsciously, there is a disconnect. But it unless you're actually aware of that or you go into the deep rooted beliefs and stories and memories, it's very hard to uncover, but why like, this is what I want. So why is it not happening? And the internal reality is exactly what replicates in our physical reality, right? Like, you know, what I mean, like, how we feel on the inside is exactly how we experience the world on the outside. So it's, it's so interesting to dive so much deeper, and it can be really daunting. And it can be really confronting when you are going deep, and you realize, oh, my God, I have so much shit to work through. But you have to start somewhere, right? And it's being aware of like, I want this, but I just can't get it like, it's I'm just feeling stuck. And there is something not right. And you can feel that to your core like, everything's either going seamlessly. Well, there's some form of resistance. And the resistance is where that that instant, like there's that disconnect, and you can feel it. Some of the most common blocks for entrepreneurs, sometimes repetitively. But yeah, what are the what are the top couple for women who are just sort of starting out, or in the first couple of years of business, and they're really feeling that stagnation? And they're feeling that resistance to, you know, show up, which is, I know, one of them, but like, you know, to get out there to put themselves out there to follow their dreams and their passions, and, you know, and maybe even to do the deep work, like, what are some of the couple of things that pop up that keep people stuck from actually attaining the level of success that they want?
13:15
Yeah, so what was what was really fascinating is that after I presented this masterclass, almost everyone in the group, and even the people that watch the replay, reached out to me and said, Wow, that was so enlightening. And the one that resonated the most with me was fear of being seen. So that's one of the most common blocks that entrepreneurs face this fear of being seen. So if you're sitting there struggling to show up consistently on social media, all of us know how to push post, all of us know how to write a caption, all of us most likely know how to make a real even if it's a really simple real, but yet, there's just something that's keeping you both from from going live. And that can be the fear of being seen. There's, there's a lot of other ways that that one can also show up to as like, you know, maybe some of these beliefs that you have to act a certain way in order to attract clients. Like you have to be really professional, or you have to be really spiritual or you have to be perfect. So there's this block that like, Oh, if I'm or this belief, rather, oh, if I'm my authentic self, I'm never going to be successful. clients aren't going to come to me or Oh, yeah, in order for me to show up fully, I have to first look perfect, or be perfect or speak perfectly so yeah, fear of being seen as a huge one as well as you know, fear of being seen within that is like fear of being canceled fear of being judged. Fear of having haters.
14:49
Is a million world that we live don't want it on. Quickly, Trisha did mention the master class. So she actually has a master class, which is the eight most common blocks that entrepreneurs face. So I will link that all in the show notes. Anyway, for anyone else who wants to watch the replay. I watched it and it was amazing. And there was another bonus one in there that I loved. So secretly, it was nine. But yeah, I'll link that all below. I love that you spoke about that perfectionism, right, trying to get it perfect. And there is no such thing as perfect. And that I know, the pair of us have both felt that, you know, even in recent times, it just keeps popping up like oh, it's just not there yet, or I haven't done X Y Zed yet to put that out. And it's, it's so silly, but it will forever just come up. But you can catch it and you can continue to move through it. And it is it's a never ending journey going through these blocks and the subconscious work. It's never ending. It's very enlightening. very freeing, but they will continually come up. Okay, so it's not something you can do once and then forget about just like money blocks. It's not something you can just work on once and then you're done forever. You need to keep working on it. It's this personal development will never end. What's What's another one? What's one more that? Yeah,
16:10
well, well, you just address perfectionism, which really ties into the fear of failure, and also fear of success. So subconsciously, we have this belief, oh, I have to be perfect in order to to be loved, or to be accepted. And subconsciously just think about like evolutionary, we we, in the past, we had to be loved and we had to be accepted by the group and by the clan. Otherwise, we wouldn't have survived. Even if we were just babies. Right now, we learned very early on that we have to be at that age dependent on caretakers, because we don't know how to feed ourselves how to do anything when we're infants. And so then that can develop later on into depending on your circumstances, or your memories or your beliefs that that happen over time, you can develop that. That belief, okay, well, if I'm perfect, then that means at least then I'm getting approval, or at least that I'm getting loved. But then you box yourself in to feeling like you always have to be perfect in order to succeed. And we all know that that perfection, you can't reach that. So it's a self. It's this self fulfilling prophecy of like, your biggest fear is failing, because that means that you won't be loved. But yet, you're failing at being perfect. So it's just this continuous cycle that just keeps you stuck. Yeah, I love that you
17:48
mentioned I mean, I pretty much I love everything you mentioned, we could literally talk for days. But I love that you mentioned you know, fear of failure, but then there's also the fear of success. So I for the longest time felt that fear of failing, you know, I, you know, flunked uni twice, didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, I thought that I had to go to university get a degree to get a good job. And, you know, I didn't even know that coaching was a profession a few years ago, it was just so new to me. But that fear of failing, then once I overcome that, which I feel like I've overcome that now, you know, I'm not scared to fail or put something out and it not go to plan. I'm like, Okay, it's all right. It's all coming together. Always say that. It's all coming together. It's just what was meant to be what can I learn from it? What can I do differently? But then it's that fear of success that then pops up. And I have experienced this recently, I have just like, I really had to dive a lot deeper into that, that fear of success. But you know, what happens when you get too successful? What happens when, like, what if people treat you differently? And there's, yeah, it's such a balancing act, isn't it between like, you go from one and then you sort of flip it into another? And it's like, oh, God, we're going to start all this all over again. Yeah, but originally, when I heard that fear of success, I thought, why would you want to be scared to be successful? That's the conscious mind talking right? The conscious mind, but everyone wants to access? The subconscious mind is like, Yeah, well, do you do Yeah. Is that enough?
19:23
I know that that one is so the fear of failure is so easy to pick up. Everyone could probably raise their hand and say, okay, yes, I struggle with that, or I have in the past. I, you know, I don't want to fail. But fear of success is one of those hidden ones that a lot of people you know, live through their lives with that being completely unconscious, and they don't have awareness of that. But again, what I was talking about with the fear of failure and the Klan mentality, if you think about that, too, with fear of success, if you are very successful, then our fear is that oh, okay. Now these people now I'm different. than them. And now they won't accept me too. Or if you've ever like maybe in middle school or high school or something, where people saw that, oh, wow, Carla is a brilliant student, or Wow, she's really good at sports or Wow, she's really beautiful. If you stood out just a little bit, then you'll notice people calling you Oh, she's just too much. Oh, she's too full of herself. Oh, really? Did she? Does she really have to show off like that? So we can see how that fear of success has developed? And then it's, it's just amplified, you know, as we continue our lives.
20:35
Yeah. And I think starting your own business is one of those massive areas where every single limiting belief just wants to show up. Like, I've not felt like I've had to dive so deep into the shadows, as what I have in the last couple of years. So do you feel the same? It's like, Oh, my God, like what's absolutely,
21:00
absolutely, I've heard and I've totally experienced this, for it to be true, that basically, starting your own business is like, the biggest personal development tool there is. Because you know, if I was still working in corporate, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but a lot of my my biggest fears or blocks wouldn't have been shown, it wouldn't have come to the surface or been reflected back to me, like I could easily, easily slink away and easily hide myself in the corporate setting. And but you know, when you're running your own business, it's, it's much harder to do that, or like all of your money blocks will come up, because you're not having a steady paycheck. And I've also heard that relationships are also the greatest mirror and an excellent personal development tool, because essentially, the person on the other side that your partner is just reflecting back to you all of your own limitations or all of your own judgments within yourself, and I believe that business is the same way. Oh, absolutely.
22:03
And, and also that he was at, someone said, that no, like, no one's coming to save you.
22:14
Yeah, Mel Robbins, might have
22:17
been, yeah, like, no one's coming to save you. So in your business, it's also like, you can feel really alone. And like you're doing it all by yourself. And so that makes it even more difficult because you are like, having all these all these limiting beliefs pop up, and all this, you know, procrastination, perfectionism, comparing yourself and your level of success to other people and, you know, being triggered triggering, as soon as you're triggered by something, there is a belief there that you need to dive deep into all resistance, it all just comes to the surface. And like you said, mirroring, it's exactly that, you know, I feel like, not just in business, but yet every part of your life is literally just holding up a mirror to you to go you need to either heal or grow or evolve in this area, you know, and it's just, it never ends. It never ends. Um, I had another question for you. So let's talk about those the fear of failing the fear of success, and then the fear of being seen. So if any of the listeners are feeling like, oh, yeah, that's me, I for sure have every single one of them and probably more, but like these ones, specifically, what would you suggest as a starting point to I guess, being able to break through those blocks and keep moving? You know,
23:31
we we kind of talked about this on the on the front end of the call before we actually hit record.
23:38
We always, we always told him like, oh, I probably should have hit record a few minutes ago. But anyway.
23:44
But yeah, but I'll just, I'll just circle it all back. And so that listeners can also hear this too. One of the things that, you know, again, when we think about, about accomplishing our goals, we automatically go to the conscious mind, when really the power is in the subconscious. And like I said earlier, our subconscious houses, our stories that we tell about ourselves, so essentially our identity, the most important thing, or one of the most important things, along with shifting those beliefs. So I guess maybe the first thing would be uncovering what are those beliefs underneath the surface? Like why is it that you are afraid of being seen? You know, you believe that there's something wrong with you? Is it that you believe that as soon as you show up fully that people are going to come and cancel you. So get really get clear on what those beliefs are. But going back to the identity piece, it's really important to shift that and it can be so much easier than than what we think first of all, you can just start saying different I am statements. I am an amazing speaker. I am a US successful business owner. And and there are ways to also make that a little bit more believable to your subconscious mind. Because the last thing that you want to do is like continue to repeat these affirmations to your subconscious mind that are just so unbelievable that it just feels uncomfortable.
25:19
I don't just reject them anyway. Right. Like when you're saying Walkley, I am amazing. I am a multimillion dollar business owner or something. It's like, No, you're not like,
25:30
yes, like,
25:31
none are gonna hold up. Yeah, right.
25:34
It's like this, the subconscious mind isn't, you know, isn't stupid, like it's gonna know, you know, to some extent, but in a way it is really malleable as well, especially when you get into the theta brainwave state, which is the theta, which is the state of of hypnosis. But I also have this, this free workbook to that if you're struggling with coming up with affirmations for yourself, like these im statements, and it just feels so far in the distance, I have a couple of words that you can actually insert. So things like I am choosing to believe that I'm becoming a successful business owner, rather than I am a successful business owner, because, you know, that can just make people feel like so uncomfortable. It can be really helpful. And it can actually go into the subconscious a lot easier if we make it more believable from the start. But the identity piece is so important. And I mentioned in the master class to the alter ego effect. So that is a book by Todd Herman. I love that. And so many people in manifestation also talk about the idea of embodying so essentially, this is just that you're embodying the version of you, that already has what you want. So you're already embodying that new identity. So if it's, you know, you you desire to have a successful business. Okay, now you show up as if you already had that successful business. At first, I wanted to make sure that this concept really worked. So creating an alter ego, basically, you create an identity that you want, you think about, okay, what beliefs would this person think, What habits would this person have? What would they look like? What would they do every day? What would they, you know, how would they show up in their business or in their life or whatever facet of life that you're addressing. And I felt like the thing that I would see the most immediate results to see if this would actually work was through sports. So I applied this to sports where I had an alter ego, where whenever I would play soccer or football, I would have this alter ego of like a really athletic person really strong, really fast, really, just amazing at the sport really skilled. And as soon as I embraced and embodied that alter ego on the field, as soon as I stepped onto the field, that's when I started scoring the goal. So I hadn't scored any goals up until that point, but then within a month, I scored maybe like six goals, it was pretty incredible and really cool to see. But now I just copy and paste that same process and apply that to my business. So it's can be really helpful one to shift that identity. But then also Yeah, like, come up with an alter ego. Have fun with it. You know, maybe Batman, you like really, you really connect with I don't know, I'm not really a Batman fan base.
28:43
That's so true. And yeah, embodiment is a massive part of it. But I again, love what you said, I feel like I've said that a million times. You know, if you're saying, Well, I am choosing to believe XYZ, it's like you're bridging the gap between Well, here I am, instead of jumping straight to I am, I am choosing to believe I am becoming a seven figures bent seven figure business owner, it's like, you're bridging that. So your subconscious can go, oh, yeah, I can, I can actually believe that you are choosing that. Like there's a little bit of truth behind it. So it's not just straight up rejected. And then going into that and creating your alter ego. I think that's amazing. I'm definitely gonna go read that book. Well, I know we could continue to talk about this for forever. Is there anything else that you wanted to add to the listeners? Is there anything that you wanted to touch on before we wrap up and probably have to do a part two?
29:39
Yeah, well, let's definitely plan for part two. I know that I have to have you on my podcast for part two as well. But because you focus so much on money mindset, you know, I'd also encourage the listeners to like really dive deep into their subconscious beliefs about money to money is one of those things Where we've all learned things about money starting very, very young. And actually, from the ages of zero to seven, our mind hasn't fully developed yet. So that analytical that logical brain hasn't developed yet. So you're essentially in the state of hypnosis from that time from zero to seven, which makes you very suggestible. And so it's likely that you're actually running off the same belief systems that you had from zero to seven. So it's really time to upgrade those money, beliefs and those money stories that you have. Because a lot of times those can actually be keeping you stuck as well. Like, if you for some reason believe that money is evil. Or maybe you went through like a really traumatic event with money, like, there was a divorce in your family. And then that caused a lot of tension with money, or your parents would always fight around money, or there was never have enough money or your parents, you know, would would always overspend or whatever, like you learn so much about money. And it's just really important to dive into that and then upgrade those limiting beliefs as well.
31:09
Yeah, absolutely. It's definitely just like, money is always just a byproduct. For us. It's the byproduct of us living in alignment, it becomes easier to earn money and attract money, create it and receive it and hold it, the more that you do the subconscious work. And the more that you realize that just because of the way things have always been, doesn't have to be the way things stay. You know, you get to choose a different financial reality. So I love that you touched on that. And yeah, I know that's another area for us. Money and abundance is maybe that could be the part two. Let's go for the part two. How can my listeners connect with you?
31:49
Yeah, so the easiest way would probably be on Instagram. So my handle is just my name Trisha fish spoon, free download plus the masterclass, you can access all of those just with the link in my bio, and you can, you know, you can access other free things. I also have recordings for you where we're actually guides you into your own subconscious mind. And then you can choose the new beliefs that you want, that are kind of playing on repeat in your subconscious mind. Because your subconscious mind is kind of like a broken record player. You know, it's just like a habit. So you're gonna continue to think the same thoughts that you thought yesterday and the day before. So it's really important to upgrade those. So Instagram is the best way to connect with me. You can also go to my website, which is also my name, Tricia fish. bn.com.
32:38
Awesome. Well, yeah, we'll link everything in the show notes. And yeah, stay tuned for part two. We're definitely gonna have to do another one. I love that. Thank you so much. Yeah, it's just been amazing getting to know you and forming a friendship with you, Trisha, you're just a beautiful soul. And I'm so happy that you came on here.
32:57
Thank you so much for having me. And I'm reflecting back all of your beautiful words back to you.
33:03
And also before I go, so Trisha is going to be a guest expert in the momentum mastermind that is kicking off June 1 as well. So the links will be in the show notes for that as well. Thank you, and we'll catch you in the next episode.
